Friday is a big game for the Wildcats and their fans. It is the first home game of the year, thank God. It is also the dedication of the new scoreboard. After Coach Wedemeyer’s passing in June, the school decided to put up a new scoreboard for football with his name on it. Mrs. Wedemeyer will be there and a special ceremony will take place.
The Cats are coming off their first lost of the season but after yesterdays practice there is great hope for this team. So if you only see one game this year this just might be the one to see. Although, all the remaining games should be good ones as the league starts next week. As far as Salinas is concerned, this is a very talented and physical team that shut out Santa Teresa last week 14-0. They are playing really well and have a very good running game to compliment a very strong defense.
This is the last non-league game for the Cats and they need to show that we are prepared to open in the De Anza with the first three games being Milpitas, Wilcox and Palo Alto. So get on down to Helm field and see the new version of the Los Gatos Wildcats Friday night and see the new scoreboard dedication to long time football coach Charlie Wedemeyer.
